What We Investigate

Our research transcends several disciplinary boundaries as illustrated by this network which visualizes how different sub-disciplines relate to one another.

Network analysis using VOSviewer based on publications that involve one of us (Tor, 1990–2021) and are representative of QRG research areas. For each of the papers that are listed with references in the Web of Science (64 in total) this analysis captures all these references along with their references, plus all citations to the 64 papers along with their references. This results in more than 4,000 discrete items, shown by the colored dots with the symbol size representing the number of links within the network. The colors reflect thirteen discrete areas of research that are highlighted by the ellipses.

The same network with the age of the >4,000 entries, demonstrating that QRG research has gradually migrated from left to right. For example, past research focused heavily on fluvial geomorphology and sedimentology, whereas current frontiers include coastal subsidence and sustainability as well as modern sea-level change.
